As a young man, I was raised in the tough barrio of Spanish Harlem, in New York City. Surrounded 360 degrees by poverty, I watched my family and friends struggle to make ends meet, using food stamps and government programs to survive. Our household was that of a lower-income family. Don’t get me wrong, my parents tried their best to provide a decent quality of life for us. Even though they both worked as hard as they could at their jobs, there existed a severe language barrier that undermined their ability to get high-paying jobs in an otherwise English-speaking world. Their combined income was never enough and we always had to ”do without.“
One night, lying awake and staring at the ceiling after a particularly rough day in our home, I swore, then and there, that when I have children of my own, they would never have to ever worry about ”doing without.“ That day acted as a springboard to what lay ahead.
Over the next twenty-five years, I embarked on a journey to learn about the true secrets of success and wealth. From decent-paying jobs to apprencticeships with multi-millionaires, I slowly began identifying each of the pieces to the success puzzle.
It was not until I, myself, became a multi-millionaire through my Financial Services Business that the final image, the box cover, if you will, to the success formula finally made sense to me. I created an acronym which symbolized both my hispanic heritage and the success formula itself.
The M.A.S. Success Principle was formed. In spanish, mas means ”more.“ As a success principle, mas stands for ”so much more.“
We have all felt out of focus. We have all wondered, ”what if I had made a different decision?“ We have all thought, ”why are things not going right in my life?“ Sometimes we feel that our health is not where it needs to be. More often than not, we feel our finances are not where they need to be. You may ask yourself, ”What should I do?“ Your relationships may be out of whack. Your emotions may be up and down. It simply goes on and on.
Three little letters, this simple acronym, is EXACTLY what you need to ”fix“ all of those things that are keeping you away from success. Let’s delve deeper and begin defining the M.A.S. Principle for Success. |
The first letter, ”M“ stands for MAKE a decision
One of the toughest things an individual can do, and one of the most overlooked parts of any success formula, is to make a serious decision about what it is that someone wants in their life. When you make a decision, you DECIDE. The suffix of the word DECIDE is IDE, and that is defined as ”putting to death.“ For example, if you take apart the words homicide, pesticide and suicide, their common suffix, IDE, refers in some way to ”death.“
When you make a decision about what it is that you want, you are basically saying, ”I’ve ‘put to death’ any other option other than success in my life“ or ”I’ve decided that I want to be slim and trim“ or even ”I’ve decided that I want to gain mastery over my emotions.“ It is when you make that all-important decision that you have taken the first critical step in the M.A.S. Success Principle.
Once you have DECIDED to make a decision about what it is that you want in your life, there are a few things you need to do. We are going to begin by having you start the first crucial exercise (try to set aside at least one to two hours.) Find a clean sheet of paper. If you have a partner or significant other, make sure they share and participate in this exercise along with you. Dim the lights, perhaps light a candle or two. Put on your favorite quiet music and write down all of your goals and dreams. Just start dreaming.
Here’s an example of what we mean by ”Dream.“ You sit down with your partner and you write down this statement: ”If we hit the lottery for ten million dollars, what would we do?“
Winning a ten million dollar lottery will probably allow you to accomplish most of the things you want in life. Now, just start writing while asking yourself these questions:
* What kind of dream home would you like to live in? * What’s the square footage? * What would the style of the home be? * How many bedrooms? * Would there be a pool or a Jacuzzi? * Would I have a nice large circular driveway?
Describe your home in every detail. The key to this exercise is EMOTIONAL DETAIL. You have to attach emotion to it. What excites you? What makes you EXTREMELY EXCITED? What makes your partner excited (clean thoughts please). Dream about that home? Then write it out in detail. It may help you to obtain photos and pictures of what you want. |
